Mr \Y. Moorman, stntionmasicr at Hamilton, has been transferred to Feilding. Sympathetic reference to the illness of Mr 'l'. 11. Hodder, a former member, was made at last evening’s meeting of the Palmerston North High Scliools Board of Governors, and it was decided to send him a letter of good wishes. Mr F. D. Strombom, of l ower Hutt, has completed 50 years’ continuous service as a lay reader in the Wellington Anglican diocese. Veil. Archdeacon Hansell will attain 50 years’ service in the ministry this year and Rev. D. C. Bates will have been 50 years a minister next Saturday. All were paid special tributes at the Diocesan Synod. At last evening’s meeting of the Palmerston North High Schools Board of Governors a motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr G. H. Elliott. The chairman (Mr M. H. Oram) said Mr Elliott was art master at the Technical School from 1906 to 1927; he served the school loyally; assisted much its growth, and in addition was very highly respected. It was decided to place Mr Elliott’s loyal service on record.

Sergeant Konrad J. E. Hirtzel, of the 2nd N.Z.E.F., who is reported missing, is 27 years of age and the second son of the late Mr and Mrs O. A. Hirtzel, of Dannovirke. He was well-known in the Dannovirke district as a mechanician in the exchange department of the Post Office. He completed his education at the Dannevirkc District High School. He has always boon keen on army training and served for over eight years with the Hawke’s Bay Company. His next-of-kin is his brother. Air A. Hirtzel, of Fitzhcrbcrt Avenue, Palmerston North.
