Armed with torches and collecting cards, they set out in platoons, attacking simultaneously -ail parts ofjtho borough and succeeded in •‘capturing” numerous donations. The night was frosty, but the men vigorously applied themselves to the self-allotted ; task and their efforts were well’ worth while. No fewer than CO collectors took part in the campaign under the leadership of tho RaS.A. president (Mr F. Allen). Donations ranged from Is to £2O, and tho treasurer (Mr C. H. Tate) stated this morning that tho receipts actually in hand total £G2O. To that amount is to be added further sums which have been promised, and it is expected that the “raid” will result in over £7OO being collected. Feilding and district’s quota for the appeal is £14,C00, and so far the receipts acknowledged total £12,0G1, The “raid” was a comprehensive one and few people were missed. Even old-age pensioners made contributions.
