FATAL FALL

FARM HAND'S DEATH. Injuries which proved fatal were sustained by William Addis Putnam, aged 05, when he fell from a loaded dray on the property of Mr Andrew Campbell, at Kauwhata. on July 5, his death occurring eight days later. Deceased and Mr Campbell went to a haystack with a dray in order t<. load feed for stock. After the dray had lx'eii loaded, deceased and Mr Campbell sat on top of the load and proceeded to drive across the paddock. Two small blimps were struck- and lbload began to sway. This caused tli" top of it to slip to the ground, taking deceased and Mr Campbell with it. When Mr Campbell rose to his feel deceased was still lying on the around. and stated lie could not use his legs as they were paralysed. Mr Campbell telephoned for the ambulance and deceased was conveyed to the Hospital, where ho died on July J 3. An inquest was held before Mr A .1. Graham (Coroner) and after.formal evidence ol identification had been given by deceased's brother, was adjourned- sine die.
