SUPPLY DEBATE.

Explanation by premier. (Rec 11.55 a.m.) RUGBY, July 15. The Premier made a statement in the House of Commons relating to the impression which had been created by the necessarily abridged newspaper reports of last week's Supply debate. Mr Churchill said a sensationa statement had been telegraphed and broadcast all over the world which did not represent the well-directed eftorts and remarkable results in almost every field of production. He had. given a direction that all the allegations made in the debate, of any serious substance, be sent to the departments concerned and that the harder tacts he ascertained ~ , ••At an early date," ho continued, "I propose to sot up the same vote as was discussed last week and have a dav's debate in a public session and •will endeavour to make a lull and comprehensive statement on the whole matter as far as public interest permits r hope bv these means, which arc inspired bv the greatest possible- respect for the House, to remove any mistaken and evil impression that may be'doing us harm in any part of 'the world."—Official Wireless.
