(Press Assn.) WELLINGTON. July 15. A now process for treating New Zealand meat for export involving dehydration ot meat, rendering it into powder form, was mentioned during a discussion on the meat situation by Captain H. M. Rushworth, delegate from Auckland, at the annual conference of the Farmers' Union.

The process has been the subject of experiment by the executive of the Auckland branch of tho union, said Captain Rushworth. It had secured the services of an analytical chemist and a dehydration expert. As the outcome a powdered meat product had been evolved. Following a communication to Britain a cable had been received from Mr W. J. Jordan (High Conimissioner) to the effect that the British Food Ministry was interested in the process. Subsequentlv it had been decided to send scwt of dehydrated meat to England. Captain Bushworth stated that the experiments showed that natural meat was reduced in value by only one-fifth and was a highly concentrated food. An analysis showed it to contain 75' per cent, protein, 3 per cent, moisture, and 12 per cent. fat. He further explained that the process did not involve "cooking", the meat. It was reduced to powdered form and alter keeping for three months it was still suitable for culmarv requirements.
