Traffic returns for the quarterly period just closed reveal that railway business at Woodvillc is being maintained at :i level which compares very favourably with that of the corresponding period last year. The main statistics are: —Passengers booked outwards, 5504; cattle, 5875; sheep, 30,320; goods (tonnage), 5291 ; waggons, shunted, 14,076. The Danncvirke Hunt has received a cheque for £2OO from an insurance company, being payment of a claim made four days ago under a Piuvius policy. This policy was taken out to cover the club against a loss caused by rain on.the occasion of their annual race meeting at Woodvillc.

Mrs \V. Calbraith, who has lately been undergoing hospital treatment, has returned to her homo. Miss Kingswcil, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs C. Lagor. Sergeant W. G. Graham, Southern llawke's Bay provincial president of the W.D.F.U., and Mrs C. F .Barker, of Danncvirke, are attending the annual conference ol that organi sation in Wellington as .executive members. Mesdames Hume and Leach are attending the conference as representatives ol the Woodvillc branch.
