Rowland were, guests of honour at a. number of dances and parties recently, and the largo gathering of residents and friends who attended a dance and presentations in the local ball proved the popularity of these iwo soldiers. Mr A. Buchanan, of ]*cekvvood. spoke on behalf of the after which Mr R. Tanner and Mr N. P. Nielsen made presentations to the guests. An enjoyable evening was spent at the residence of Mr and Mrs M. Richardson, when the young people of the district, were entertained at a party tendered to Private Rowland. Dancing, games and community singing occupied most of tho evening with Mr \Y. Cambridge at the piano. Ai the conclusion good wishes were extended and all joined in singing “Auid Rang Svne.” Other parties were held at tlie residence of Mr and Mrs D. Rowland, when the guests included a number of friends from Private Rowland's troop in the Mnnawatu Mounted Rifles; by Mr and Mrs J. llearsey when the guests included Air Force men from the station at which Gunner Hearsay trained; and at tho home of -Miami .Mrs D. Vowels. .Mr and Mrs M. Richardson and Misses | K. and R. Richardson have returned from a, holiday spent at Rotorua, Tamanga. and .Mauimatn. Mrs IE McKwen lias been spending the holidays at Paraparaunm Beach and Wellington. Mr J. Rahorc has - returned from the 8011th island.
