Mr anrl Mrs J. Durham, of Alanapouri Crescent, Palmerston North, have received cabled advice that their son, Mr John Durham, who is with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., is safe and well. Rev. J. B. Davies was ordained by the Christchurch Presbytery this week. Mr Davies, who is the soil of Rev. M. E. Davies, a well-known missionary in China, is in charge of the Amuri parish while Rev. A. MeNcur is absent in the No. 1 Hospital Ship. Air Eric A. Nicol, formerly of "Wellington, son oi Airs A. W. Nicol, Christchurch, has received an important appointment in the United States Office of Production, Washington. D.C. lie has the title of administrative assistant to the associate directorgeneral. His Honour Air Justice Blair, who has been engaged with the sittings ot the Supreme Court in Palmerston North over the past fortnight, left to-day for Wanganui, wlidre he will preside at sessions of the Court for a week. He will then return to Palmerston North for the resumption ol the session here.

The death of Air W. B. Stool lias occurred in Dunedin at the age of 77 years. He was prominently associated with lodge work, especially the Druids and Masonic Lodges. For a long period he was secretary of the Otago Expansion League and in that capacity was an ardent advocate ol the development of Central Otago.

Rev. D. N. Pryor, a New Zealand minister who is at present supplying a church in Dunfermline, Scotland; is to receive a call from the congregation of St. Andrew's Church, Auckland. Airs Pryor, who was formerly Aliss Leila Buchanan, was well-known before her marriage as travelling secretary of the Presbyterian Young Women's Bible Class Union.

A London message says the death is announced of Lord Liverpool, who was Governor-General of New Zealaml from December 19, 1912, to July 7, 1920. He was Governor during the period of the last war, and the New Zealand Rifle Brigade was named after him —Lord Liverpool’s Own. He ajso interested himself largely in the equipment and personnel ol the two hospital ships Alaheno and Marama.
