Friends of Private D. Giles, formerly nit employee of the Railway Department at .Marion, will be pleased to learn that lie is safe and well after evacuation from Greece Air L> L Lay, telegraph exchange clerk at. the Alnrton Post Office, ha- been transferred on promotion as telegraphist at Foxton. Corporal Gordon Alexander Alilroy, who was mentioned in yesterday's casualty Ibt as wounded’, is well-known in Alarton, where lie resided for some 18 months. He was a keen cyclist and competed at various sports meetings held on Marten Park. He was a member of the Marion Old Boys’ Football Club senior fifteen. Prior to leaving New Zealand he married Albs Rita Archibald, daughter of Airs and the late Air J. Archibald, of Harris Street. .Marlon. A kitchen gift evening was tendered to Albs Royee Alegridge and Air G. Lourie at Air A. Oracle’s honfe by a number of their friends. -The young couple received a number of gifls.
