Members of St. Paul's Cliureli Bible class met to farewell Mr Noel Bctlcy who is joining the Navy. A presentation of a. shaving compact was made to the guest by Mr II Revnolds, who extended good wishes. Rev. A. L. Dixon and Mr 1. Pagan also spoke and Messrs B. McI.cod and I. Brown and Miss N. McDowall added good wishes on behalf ot their respective sections . . A billiard team from the Rangitikci Club visited Ohakea Air Station this week for a match with the men there. Remarkably mild weather for this tirn<> of the year has been experienced in 1-cild-ing during the pact ten days. The evening., have likewise been devoid of the usual sharpness which characterises winter nights. There have been heavy dews but few frostr. In to-day's issue of the "Manawatu Standard" a number of the candidates for election hive advertisements appearing. The contest, should be interesting, in that. there arc eleven candidates for nine seats. There are three new candidates and eight of the old council are seeking re-election.
PERSONAL. Petty-Officer D. V. Bell has returned to Auckland after spending his leave aa the guest of Mr and Mrs A. 11. Allen, Denbigh Street, Feilding. The death is announced in Sydney of Mr S. IS. Duthic eldest brother of Mr Alfred Duthio, of Feilding. The friends of Sergeant K. G. Edwards will be pleased to learn tnat cabled advice has been received in I eliding that he is safe and well. Mr (Jordon Allen, son of .Mr and Mrs Arthur Allen, of Denbigh Street, Feilding, has left to join the Fleet Air Ann. A number of hie friende farewellcd him and wished him good luck. .Mr P. C. R. Wcllb, of Wellington. is the guest of Mr and Mrs 1". McKay, Beattie Street. ...... Miss Grace Buchanan, of Hataitai, Wellington, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs Buchanan of Cunninghams. Mrs .). Blight, of Christchurch, is visiting her son, Rev. A\ . '1 • Blight, and Mrs Blight, of the Methodist parsonage. Miss .lanct Hare, of Gisbornc, is staving with Mr and Mrs Henry Hare, of West Street. Mr and Mrs T. Watson, -of Sandilands Street, have returned from the South Island where they visited their three *ons (of whom two are Presbyterian ministers and the other a doctor) and their daughter, who is married to a doctor.
