AMERICAN OPINION
ASSISTANCE FOR BRITAIN
(Press Assn.) AUCKLAND. May 16. "The swing of American opinion in the Jast eight months in the direction of aiding Britain has been miraculous," said Dr. Lynn Harold Hough, Dean of the Drew" Theological Seminary, New Jersey, a through passenger to Sydney. "The great majority of the people are not only keen about Britain's winning the war but are determined to render ever'- assistance." The speaker said it was difficult to say how strong the isolationists actually were. "My opinion is that this group arc much more vocal than they are actually strong," said Dr. Hough. He said that Mr Herbert Hoover was a man who had to be watched, because he had once been the President of the TJnited States. However, the .speaker did not think that Mr Hoover's influence would be of much significance.
