VIGOROUS PATROLS
FORCES IN LIBYA
AIRMEN BLAST BENGHAZI. (United Press Association —Copyright.)
(British Officinl Wireless.)
(Bee. 12 noon) RUGBY, May 15. A Middle East / communique states: Our troops have been continuing their vigorous patrolling activities in both the Tobruk and Solium areas.
The R.A.F. made a raid on Benghazi, last night, when direct hits were obtained on. military buildings and the Cathedral mole.
1 BRITISH TAKE INITIATIVE LONDON, May 14. The British have taken the initiative in the Western Desert after the failure of the Germans' five-pronged thrust. Our mechanised forces are pressing home attacks in the Solium area and harassing the enemy columns round Tobruk.
The opinion is expressed in Cairo that the German thrust was designed to di.sorgani.se the growing British armoured patrol tactics. The blazing heat is still increasing and is likely to militate against widespread operations.
