THE COMMUNIST PARTY.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—ln to-night's issue of the "Manawatu Standard" our friends the Communist Party enter the sphere of municipal politics. However, in their usual sinister anti-constructive tactics, they prefer to discredit, rather than to become involved in an attempt to "pick a horse." Their manifesto commences with a definite mis-state-ment in connection with tho attitude of the Labour candidate (Mr Murphy) to the question of the repatriation of soldiers.' On tho contrary, from the reports of meetings, Mr Murphy is the only candidate who urges immediate planning in this direction. Their sudden interest in this vital matter is not without its humour. One would think a more domestic matter affecting them would be the rehabilitation of their own "boys" who are playing their part lor the duration under entirely different circumstances. It is possible their failure to "communise" the Labour movement, kept stable by such a rational executive as Mr Murphy, has caused him to !>e singled out for this attack. They may rest assured the workers will not be side-tracked by their feeble attempt at discrediting, yet offering nothing--I am. etc., WIDE AWAKE. Palmerston North, 15/5/41.
