TAKARO TENNIS CLUB
Tho annual wind-up dance of the Takaro Tennis Club took place recently, when the prizes won during the season were presented. Mr N. Johanscn carried out the duties of M.C. The presentation of trophies took place after supper when Mr F. Hear.-ey (president) introduced Mr J. T. McDonald (president of the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association and delegate to the New Zealand Council) who presented the B Icani with the B grade cup. Mr C. E. Griffiths (club captain) accepted the cup on behalf of tho team. Mr Ilearsey presented the club championship trophies. a special cup being presented to Mr J. Christie for holding tho championship six years in succession. Other awards were: Women's championship singles (a new cup presented by Mr Colin McAffcr), Mrs G. Simon ; women's handicap singles, Miss [I. Gill; women's handicap doubles, Misses E. and G. Peters; consolation handicap singles, Miss K.; Coyle; men's championship singles, Mr 'J. Christie; handicap singles, Mr C. E. Griffiths; handicap doubles, Messrs G. Simon and K. Carter: consolation handicap singles, Mr N. Johanscn; club junior handicap singles, Miss Z. Terry; mixed doubles handicap, Miss L. Cookslcy and Mr L>. Lcng-Ward.
