MILITARY MANOEUVRES.

ls COMMENCING TO-DAY. Per Press Association. . WELLINGTON, March 24. A decision to proceed with the northern military manoeuvres was reached to-day following a visit of inspection to W'aiouru by the Chief of the General Staff (Sir John Duigan) and the Director-General of Medical Services (Brigadier F. T. B owe-'.ban k) as a result of an outbreak of dysentery among some of the men of the Second Wellington Regiment. Tiie decision was announced to-night by Hon.. F. Jones. The Minister said that though the position was not considered serious he thought it advisable to have a report before the troops undertook their field exercises. A conference had been held to-day and though the number of cases of illness was dropping rapidly it was not thought advisable to shift the Second Wellington Regiment. Other units would carry out their manoeuvres, the first moving off to-morrow morning and the remainder according to plan.
