MUNICIPAL BAND.
A meeting of the general committee of the Feilding Municipal Band was held last evening, Mr X. Collins presiding. Reference to the death of Mr W. Wilkinson, one of the original members of the band and its oldest supporter, was made and it was decided that a letter of sympathy be sent to the relatives. Sympathy with Mr P. G. Guy in the death of his brother was also expressed. It was decided to enter the band in the serpentine marching competition to be he.'d at Wanganui shortly. A donation and letter of appreciation was received irom the Feilding A. and P. Association in connection with the recent show concert. Regarding the proposal to reorganise the Manawatu District Brass Bands Sub-Association, further replies were received from various hands and it was decided that no further action he taken at present. Mr Fleetwood (conductor) reported that the parades had been well attended and that the band had had a particularly busy time, playing at Plome Guard parades and various functions. Mr W. Hickman, of Wanganui, was thanked for judging the solo and quartette competition ; donors and the ladv accompanistes were also thanked. The treasurer’s cash statement showed a debit balance of £2 8s 3d. Donations were acknowledged from the Freezing Workers’ Labourers’ Union and Mr R. M. Watson, S.M. -
