TAKARO ASSOCIATION.

The general committee of the Takaro Progressive Association met this week, Mr E. 11. Smith presiding. The fact that Lyndhurst Street was still frequently used as a stock route wqs brought to the notice of the association. It was thought that in some cases ignorance of the correct route to use was the cause. It was decided to ascertain if a sign could be erected to direct drovers. With regard to the Janneson Cup garden competition, the chairman said that he had been in communication with the judges, who would be making a final inspection of the district before giving their decision, which would bo announced at the annual meeting. Despite the unusual dryness of the weather, the gardens and lawns in the district reflected credit on the residents. It was remarked that there wero some unsightly empty sections where convolvulus had taken possession. It was decided to ask the City Council to place Burns Avenue and Botanical Road on the list for consideration for tar-sealing when framing the estimates for the coming year. It was also decided to assist in the distribution of M.R.A. cards in the district Tho question of nominating a candidate for the district at the forthcoming municipal election was discussed. It was decided to hold the annual general meeting a little earlier so that this matter can be discussed fully by the association as a whole.
