BOXING.

DOMINION ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, March 15. The principal business dealt with at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Boxing Association in Wellington yesterday concerned increasing the revenue of the council. A now move was the decision that affiliated associations should pay an annual subscription oi three guineas. It was decided to concentrate on fostering amateur boxing during the war years, but, it was stated, a serious handicap was tho acute shortage of gloves, and it was resolved that the Minister of Internal Affairs should be approached to see if ho could relieve the situation. Tho president, Mr M. McLean (Auckland), presided. Mr A. B. Joplin (Auckland), commenting on the report and balance-sheet, said it would be impossible to make any readjustment this year. It had been necessary to withdraw a substantial amount from the championship account, showing that" the revenue was insufficient. In view of the lean year he did not see how it would bo possible to increase rerenue. The sum of £369 had been drawn from the championship account during the past few years. Mr Wimsctt (Manawatu), in reference to remarks that were made, said it was all very well to talk about increased percentages on purses, but where would bo tho council if there were no purses? A remit put forward by tho council was carried, providing that 5 per cent. bo levied on prize money up to £l5O at pro Sessional contests, and thereafter 7i cent, of such prize money and expenses Another remit put from tho council to increase tho house percentage on the gross receipts at any professional tournament, oi at any tournament which includes a professional contest, or at tho New Zealand amateur championship tournamcnt ; from 2 to 5 per cent., was amended, on the motion of Mr Garcia (Taranaki), to provido that 2 per cent, be levied on the gross receipts up to £l5O. At the instance of Southland, sub-clause 11 of. rule 40 was amended to read: "No local association shall agree to pay or pay a professional a stated sum," win, lose or draw, except with the consent of tho council." An addition to rule 22 was made, providing that during the present war and six months thereafter, the championship fund bo stabilised at £l5O, and any accumulation of interest thereon, and that any money which would tend to incroase the furid over £l5O and the interest thereon be paid into tho association's general accc/int. _ ' . Tho election of officers resulted:—President, Mr N. McLean (re-elected); vice-pre-sidents, Messrs A. 11. Courtis (Invercargill) and W. G. Talbot (Wellington); appeal committee, Messrs C. F. Sanders, V. R. Meredith (re-elected) and G. Bush; council, Messrs J. R. Simpson, E. Blundell, C. E. Bridge, E. C. Mageo, A. S Parker, L. A. Tracey and K. A.
