INTO ABYSSINIA

PATRIOTS' STEADY MARCH.

NEARER THE CAPITAL. LONDON, Ifarch 14. The Abyssinian patriot forces continuing their drive into Abyssinia are now in the vicinity of Debra Markovs, 120 miles north-west of the capital, Addis Ababa.

In their advance the patriots have inflicted great losses on the Italians. A message from Khartoum states that Asosa, the Italian fort in Abyssinia to the west of the Gojjam Province, has been captured after combined operations by Sudanese and East African troops. Following their success at Asosa, the forces are proceeding on towards the north-east.

A military spokesman at Cairo says the operations on the whole are proceeding according to plan. There is no change in the land situation in .Libya and Tripoli, though the R.A.F. continues its attacks.
