ELECTIONS AND WAR.

PREMIER'S OBSERVATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, March 14. "That will come quickly enough for vou," retorted Hon. W. E. Parry (Minister of Internal Affairs) in the House of Representatives yesterday morning, when an Opposition member interrupted the statement by the Prime Minister regarding sessional business with a reminder that they wanted information about the general ■election. "Although a general election is of course, of importance to the people," replied Mr Eraser, "I do not think this House can natter itself that people attach much importance to a general election in a war year when the lives of our men are exposed to the greatest possible danger. Possibly, they will be carrying out their greatest activities in the Middle East and that is not a time when people should be excited about elections, however necessary elections may be."

The Prime Minister subsequently stated that his reference in the House to general elections contained no indication of a postponement of the general election.
