NOTES. On Thursday the Ilopelands School was the scene or a kitchen tea promoted by many friends in honour of Miss Toogood, to mark the occasion of net 1 proaching marriage. Progress results posted yesterday give the voting position of (he carnival queen candidates as follow:—Air l'orcc, 32,286, ■//■my, 27.486, Navy, 27,366; Nursing Services, 23,526. The Woodville Ladies’ Croquet Club, at Dannovirko on Thursday, played their first match in the Afanawatu Association banner contest, six players making the trip (two senior and four junior). This was the first- occasion for many years on which the Woodville club has had such good representation in this contest. hollowing are the scores, Woodville players mentioned first: —Singles: Mrs Hatpin Wt to Airs Cambell. 23 —26; Airs AlcC.irlhy beati Mrs Aliltcr, 26—21. Doubles: Airs C. Smith and Airs Gardner beat Airs Kinghorn and Aiiss Nichol, 20 18; Airs Houghton and Airs Coatsworth beat Airs Thomson and Airs McLean, 26—11. Woodville won by three games, and a margin of 19 points. Due to inclement weather, playing conditions were far from good.
