SHIPPING TOLL.
(British Official Wireless.) (Rec. 9-20 a.m.) RUGBY, Oct. 8. Fifteen ships of a total tonnage of 72,337 were lost through enemy action during the week during September 29JO, including ten British of 55,927 tons, four Allied of 12,119 tons, and ono neuti-al of 4291 tons.
The spirit of our Norwegian Allies is well demonstrated b.v the action of the crew of a torpedoed Norwegian ship who were landed yesterday at Newcastle after spending five da'ys at sea in an open boat. They immediately went to the Norwegian Consul and laid down .£IOO on his table for the local Spitfire fund.
