125 DISTRICT APPEALS. EXAMINATION OF MEN. The total number of appeals In Palmerston North and the adjacent district against military service, arising from the recent ballot, is now 125. The third appointment necessary to complete the Manawatu Man-Power Committee has not yet been announced so that it is not yet known when tho hearing of appeals will begin. Eighty-nine men called under the ballot were examined at a sitting of the medical board in Palmerston North on Monday. Details are not available of the proportion passed as fit. There will be a further examination next Tuesday, when about 100 men will be examined, including' some from, outside centres.
