Bond) said ho did not wish to see the extension made beyond one month as the current contract time would end after Christmas and could not be allowed to go beyond Alarch, the end of the financial year. Schools’ Difficulties. The schools in Feilding arc experiencing difficulty in obtaining teachers at present, enlistments and sickness having depleted the staffs. At the meeting of the Lytton Street School Committee on Alonday night the matter was mentioned and it was decided to ask the Education Board to make a permanent appointment in respect of an assistant, it being stated that temporary appointments were unsatisfactory. The position at the High School in regard to staffing is acute, and the headmaster (Mr L. J. Wild) is having an unenviable time trying to replace teachers who arc on active service or are sick. Staff changes, particularly in the third term, when preparations are being made for the end of the year examinations, are unfortunate. Home Guard Organisation.
