A tribute to the late Mrs J. T. Burrell was paid at the meeting of the Cuba Street Ladies’ Guild by the president (Mrs A. E. Fisher), yesterday. She said that Mrs Burrell had been a staunch worker in years gone by in both the guild and the missionary auxiliary. The two organisations had combined to send a wreath to the funeral. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect. Interesting reminders of the last war were found in a parcel recently unpacked by members ol the Lady Galway Guild. It.contained a hussif (or, as it was then called, hold-all) of . the typo issued by the Auckland Patriotic Society at that time, also a blue waistcoat from a military supplier, containing a note dated November 13, 1922, in one pocket, and a bush rug, all being in new condition.

A meeting was held last evening to confirm steps taken to form the Wo- , men’s Service League. Mrs C. Freyberg presided over a large attendance and outlined the proceedings to date. She voiced thanks for her election as leader of the group and assured the members she would do everything possible to further the aims and objects. The Red Cross Society hoped, the organisation would go ahead and link up with it as much as possible. The proposed rules were adopted. The decision to limit the numbers of units was left to the incoming committee. Members divided into their various units and nominated members for election to the committee, which is as follows: Meodames L. Cooper, C. Anderson, H. Betrc, M. A. Eliott, Misses N. Stuart, E. Redwood, D. Anderson, K. Landers, K. Garner, K. Spcusley, D. FitzHerbert and N. Smillie.
