USE OF PETROL.
’ REPLY TO MR MEACIIEN. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 8. Expressing the opinion that the rationing of petrol in New Zealand was solely concerned with finance, Sir C. Edmond (president of the New Zealand Motor Trade federation) issued a statement to-day replying to the contention made in the House of Representatives on Friday by Mr E. P. Meaehen that rationing was necessitated through conditions arising from the war. Mr Edmond states that if Mr Meaehen pursued the matter of petrol for the use of aeroplanes in New Zealand he would find it had no vital bearing on- the rationing of petrol, and he adds the Motor Trade Federation would he the last to suggest any action should be taken that would in any way restrict the training of our air force.
