WELLINGTON, Oc.t. 8, A depression is crossing central New Zealand, anti-cyclones being located over New South Wales and south of Stewart Island. _ The forecast is for moderate to strong southerly winds, reaching gale force about Cbok Strait. The weather will be dull and cold, with intermittent rain, and further heavy falls today. Conditions becoming moro of a changeable, showery type to-mori'ow. Seas, rough to very rough.

The rainfall recorded at the Palmerston North Boys’ High School for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.in. to-day was 27 points.
