TRAINLOADS OF MEN
BASES IN OILFIELDS. “OCCUPATION” DENIED. j(Rec. 10.45 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 7. The British United Press correspondent in Bucharest states that between four and five trainloads of German motorised forces and air force units have arrived in Rumania in the past 24 hours following a Rumanian i official claim to possess positive proof that British oil men were engaged . in plots to sabotage tho oilfields. Government officials in Berlin denied that tri-vps liad entered Rumania, but tho! Rumanian LegatioiT in Berlin confirmed that German troops had entered Rumania in accordance with the agreement for training and reorganising the Rumanian army, with all the equipment essential for modern warfare.
A number of Italian troops are also going to Rumania. Well-informed circles in Bucharest state that additional German units are due to arrive to-day and to-mor-row by air. German and Italian headquarters in Bucharest emphasise that there is no question of the occupation of Rumania.
It is understood tho German troops have established their bases in the oilfields between Ploesti (36 miles north of Bucharest) and the port of Giugiu, on the Danube.
The Expeditionary Corps already established at Bucharest have made contact with the Rumanian General Staff. It is believed three German divisions may enter Rumania eventually.
