PERSONAL.
Mr A. E. Mabin, a well-known business man, has been a visitor to Palmerston North during tho past few days. The death has occurred in Napier of Mr Kenneth James Gould, the younger sou of Mrs C. H. Gould, of Hamilton. Mr Gould saw active service with the Royal Air Fore© in the Great War, following which he was for some years instructor for the Hawke’s Bay and East Coast Aero Club.
Trinity, the famous Cambridge' University College, will have an illustrious historian and man of letters as the new master i.n Professor N. M. Trevlyan, 0.M., Regius Professor of Modern History at Cambridge since 1927. The appointment is in succession to the late Sir J. J. Thomson.
Mr M N. Doig, who has been manager of the Palmerston North branch of the Commercial Bank of Australia, Ltd., for the past five years, has received notice of his promotion to the management of the Dunedin branch of the bank, and expects to leave for Dunedin in about three weeks’ time. Mr E. R. S' Dale, Wanganui manager of the bank, has been appointed Mr Doig’s successor.
