TEN NAZI MACHINES

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Oct. 2. The Air Ministry has announced that Tip to 11 p.m. ten enemy aircraft had been destroyed in air fights over Britain on Wednesday—nine by It.A.F. fighters and one by anti-aircraft fire. It is now ascertained that the Nazi bomber which exploded in mid-air after being hit by an anti-aircraft shell was destroyed before midnight on 1 uesday and the total of enemy aircraft destroyed that day should _ be increased by one. Two more Nazi aircraft are added to Monday’s total, these having been brought down by Lewis gun fire. There were some fatalities, but the damage was not extensive. The raiders also attacked several places in (South-East England and started fires. There were a number of casualties here, as elsewhere throughout the country. Three houses were demolished and others damaged jii North-Mest England, but the fires started were soon under control. “Minor damage was caused by explosives and incendiary bombs in two places in Scotland. A famous public school in South-East London was slightly damaged by a ‘Molotov breadbasket.’ The Germans throughout the night attacked over twenty districts in and around London.” The Associated Press states that oOUO Italian airmen with their ground stalls and planes have gone to Germany. “We hope soon to welcome Italian airmen to our internment camps, remarked a London commentator. “The wreckage of Caproms will mate a nice change irom Heinkels and Vo niers.”
