KELVIN GROVE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) KELVIN GROVE, Oct. 2. Mrs Shepherd presided over the Octoher meeting of the Women’s Institute. An apology for absence was received from Mrs Penketh. It was mentioned that splendid work bad been done by the sewing circle in sending 150 garments overseas for refugees. Six Christmas parcels had also been sent overseas to soldiers from this, district. Thanks were extended to Mrs ( Tunnicliffe and Mrs Brown, of Pohangin a, who sent in donations for the sol- ‘ diers’ fund. The delegate appointed to at- ; tend the meeting at Kauwhata is Airs 1 Ryan. A supper cloth donated by Airs jMabey was won by IT. Ilayter. Two other , competitions were won by Airs Callahan and Mrs Grayson. Further competitions ] resulted: Flowers, Mrs Mercer 1 Mrs Radomski 2; plate of shortbread ’ Mrs Radomski 1, Mrs Wolfsbauer 2. Next month a competition will be hold for the best tln-ee-egg sponge. Mesdames Wolfsbauer and Thorburn were the hostesses for the afternoon. The hostesses for November will be Alesdames Brown and Callahan.
