MELODY DANCE CLUB.
The Melody dance held in the Empire Hall on Saturday evening and organised by Miss Winifred Hubbard attracted a large gathering of enthusiastic dancers. Everyone was in the mood for gaiety, and a very happy evening was spent by all. A professional orchestra of four players rendered the old-time and modern dance music in their usual efficient stylo. An appreciative extra was played by Mr G. Dawson. A most attractive and graceful demonstration was kindly given by Miss Beth Parkes and Mr David Durie. of the rumba. This' demonstration was given a wonderful reception, patrons demanding am encore. Miss Parkes appeared in a charming frock of ice blue frilled net, with unique shoulder spray of ostrich-feather flowers to tone. The music was supplied by the full orchestra. The opportunity was taken by Miss Hubbard and Mr York to present Miss Parkes and Mr Durie each with a gift in appreciation of their excellent performance. The duties of M.C. were as usual courteously carried out by Mr Howard York. The next Melody dance will Ire held in the Empire Hall on Saturday, October 5, at 8 p.m. sharp, when a good novelty programme of old-time and modern dances will be arranged. A special feature will be a fox-trot competition, which will be open to all who have not won a previous prize. Patrons are asked to arrive early. A good variety supper will be supplied under the supervision of Miss Hubbard. Full details are advertised elsewhero in this issue.
