BRITISH CHILDREN.
HAPPILY PLACED
Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Oct. 1. General satisfaction was expressed at a meeting of the British Children’s Reception Committee to day at the complete arrangements made for receiving the first party of evacuated children to arrive in the Dominion. No hitch had occurred to mar the successful carrying out of any of t'he plans upon which the Internal Affairs and Child Welfare Departments had worked. It was stated that all of the 89 children who had come to New Zealand had been happily and advantageously placed.
Rt. Hon. P. Fraser has received the following cable from Lord Provost Dollan, of Glasgow: “Scotland knows her children are safe and happy with Dominion friends. The city thanks Aliss Johnston for her leadership and New Zealand for its hospitality.”
