HARRIER RACE.
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —In reply to the letter of the 25th inst. signed “Helping Hand,” may I suggest to the writer to ascertain particulars before writing letters through a newspaper. First of all, Mr Cobbe donated the cup and the committee decided on the distance of the event. We were to have had the race much earlier, but owing to an alteration in the programme September 21 was decided on. Alter the Wangachu to Wanganui road race on September 14 it was found that only two seniors would he taking part, so with Mr Mills (a committeeman) we talked it over coming home and decided on a live-mile race. "The donor of the cup was consulted and agreed to our de- j cision. As it happened three turned up to run in the race. —I am, etc., HARRIER COMMITTEEMAN.
