PROFESSOR ALLEN’S LECTURE
Past and present generations have heard much of the music, story and song of the negro raco and are still enjoying if today. With the appearance of Professor Allen during the week-end the public ol Palmerston North will have the opportunity of hearing a lecture, the first one to be given here by a member of the negro race. A native of the West bow a British possession, but formerly under the control of the Spanish and the . French Governments, the visitor is what is known as a creole, of the same caste as the Empress Josephine (tho first wife of Napoleon) who was also born in the West Indies. It was here, at Trois do France, that the Empress first met tho great Napoleon. Apart from lecturing Professor Allen is a former pearl diver and trick swimmer ind gave many exhibitions last in New Zealand. The people of tho West Indies, he says, consider themselves very lucky to be under the protection of the British flag.
