Mrs J. Meikle, of Palmerston North, • is visiting relatives in Auckland. Mrs S. Colegrove, of Auckland, has returned home after visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs J. P. Innes, of Featherston Street.
Over 700 women and girls took part in the first parade of the "Women’s War Service Auxiliary in Wellington this week. '
Mrs J. S. Adams, of Otaki, and Mrs C. A. Brown, of Palmerston North, visited Wanganui at the week-end to bid farewell to their nephew, SergeantObserver D- G. Mann, R.N.Z.A.I?. Many friends from various districts were also present. The death has occurred in Hastings, at the age of 73 years, of Mrs Ada Louisa AVotherspoon. She was born at Rissington and lived in the district all her life, and her younger days were associated with the troublesome times of the Maori war. She was one of few white women who had seen Te Kooti. At various times she lived in 1 uke-. tapu, Patoka and Taradale. A wedding of much interest took place at Hastings on AVednesday, when Janet Mary, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Ernest Groome, of ,ie Ouepu, Otane, was married to Brian Douglas, son of Mr and Mrs 1 ( rank Armstrong, of Akitio, Dannevirke. the bride wore a gown of pale cream silverthreaded brocade, made on simple lines with a long train, and a Homton lace veil. She carried a bouquet of white and pale pink orchids, freesias and carnations. Her sister, Miss T. Groome, attended as bridesmaid and the three flower girls were Margaret Holland, Judv Rathbone and busan Stovell. Air and Mrs Brian Armstrong will reside at “Glen Ora,” Akitio.
