SERIES OF CHARGES.
Per. Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 5. Twelve charges of arson in and around the city were brought against Robert Hector Butcher, aged 39, a labourer, in the Magistrate’s Court today. The charges were the result of fires in unoccupied sheds and buildings over a period of seven months and mostly situated in the Addington and opreydon districts. The evidence indicated total damage of over £2OOO. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for trial.
