PAHIATUA.

Mr J. W. Sturton, of Wakefield Street, has been confined to his room for the past few days. The following is the Army Rugby Football team which will play a Bush representative team: —R, G. Bush, N. On Sunday last Mr William Frederick Peters died at his home in Hamua at the age of 76 years. Born at Carterton he was the son of the late James Peters, one of the earliest pioneers and a shoemaker by trade, a calling which his son, William later followed. In his younger ’ days tho lato Mr Peters was a prominent athlete and while still a young man he was ono of those who fought the Maoris in their uprising at Parihaki. In 1903 ho came up to the Forty Mile Bush and took up land at Hamua and lived there until the time of his death. He was prominently associated with the Rexdale Co-operative Dairy Company, having been a director for over 27 years. His late wife, who predeceased him about five years ago, was tho vounggest daughter of the lato Mr "G. L. Wakclin, senr. Left to mourn their loss are three daughters, Misses O. and I. Peters, and Mrs L. V. Russell, and ono son, Mr L. Peters. The eldest son, Louth Frederick, made tho supreme sacrifice in tho Great War. The funeral took place at tho Pahiatua Cemetery on Tuesday and among tho many beautiful floral tributes were those of the Rexdale . Co-operative Dairy Company and staff, the Hamua focilbailers and the Hamua girls basketball club.
