TABLE TENNIS.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. A good audience witnessed some brilliant play when the finals of the New Zealand Centennial table tennis championships were decided. R. A. Algio (Otago) proved that he is the outstanding player in the Dominion by retaining the men’s singles championship and with 'his brother, A. R. Algie, also retaining the men’s doubles title. Mrs M. G. Valle (Hutt Valiev; took the women’s singles championship by beating Mrs H. D. Kennedy (Wellington) in a spirited final. In the mixed doubles M. Gosling and Miss D. Croxton (Wellington) narrowly beat J. Croudis and Miss B. Strang (Hutt Valley). In the boys’ singles M. Friend (Otago) beat L. R. Muirson (Canterbury) and in the girls’ singles Miss R. Rea (Wellington) beat Miss J. Strange (Wellington).
