COMFORTS FOR TROOPS.

APPLES APPRECIATED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Aug. 14. The National Patriotic Fund Board has received through Army Headquarters a cable from Major-General Freyberg expressing appreciation for the 5000 cases of apples sent by the board in the shins ‘which carried the Second Echelon, from the Dominion. The apples were originally intended for the First Echelon in Egypt. The board is making fresh supplies of comforts available for the First Echelon and an additional sum of money lias been remitted also for the purchase of comforts.
