ATTACKS BROKEN UP

STRIFE IN SOMALILAND. OTHER FRONTS QUIET. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (British Official Wireless.) Received August 14, 9.50 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 13. A Cairo communique states that reports have now been received of a general attack on our positions covering Jugargan Pass, in Somaliland, on Sunday. In spite of intensive support by low-flying aircraft, the attacks were broken up and repulsed by our artillery and small ayni fire. At one place the enemy obtained a small local advantage, but were immediately counter-attacked. One large enemy bomber was brought down by infantry fire. There is nothing to report on the other fronts.

A Rome communique says the battle for Berbera (the chief port of British Somaliland) is raging between the mountain ranges of the coast, involving Italian units of all kinds and the main body of the British forces. The Italians have occupied Adadleli, at the foot of the mountain ranges.
