As a troop train was drawing out of tiie Palmerston North railway station on Monday night, a soldier who had delayed hoarding his carriage till the last second, missing his footl mg. He hung by both hands to the rails of the carriage platform with his feet dangling between the train and the railway platform. Two by standers rushed to his rescue and succeeded in dragging him clear as the train speeded away.
