EGYPT PLEASED.
BRITISH COTTON PURCHASE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 11. The satisfaction with which the Anglo Egyptian cotton purchases agreement has been received in Egypt is greatly welcomed in Britain, where the words of the Minister of Commerce and Industry are much appreciated.
Declaring that the agreement constituted an immense fillip for Egyptian economy.. Brahim Abdul Hadi Bey said: “Indeed, the £30,000,000 to £4O-, 000,000 entering Egypt will permit the economic life of Egypt to go forward. Without the sale of the cotton Egypt would have passed through a crisis, the extent of which is unimaginable. The circulation of the money will allow local industry to prosper, which rejoices me as much as an Egyptian as Minister of Industry.’’ Describing the agreement as “a very happy event,” the President of the Chamber (Dr. Ahmed Maher Pasha) said it was concluded entirely in the interests of Egypt and will contribute toward strengthening the bonds of friendship which unite the two nations.”
