CHRISTMAS PARCEL CONTENTS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Aug. 12. Now that overseas transport is rather a difficult problem it is essential to plan well ahead, and that is what has been done by the National Patriotic Fnud Board with a view to ensuring that everv New Zealand soldier, sailor and airman serving abroad will receive a Christinas parcel from this country. The contents of the parcel have been decided on as follows: Plum pudding (lib); Christmas cake (lib); tinned chocolate (ilb); shortbread or gingernuts (approximately lib); cigarettes or pipe tobacco; small tin of New Zealand fruit; one handkerchief. Altogether provision will require to bo made for 30,000 parcels. On a pro rata basis Auckland is being asked to supply 9930, Taranaki 1350, Nelson 810, Otago 2790, the East Coast of the North Island 060, Wellington 6090, Westland 600, Southland 1380, Hawke ! 6 Bay 1500, Marlborough 390, Canterbury 4500. As the board has been advised that it is essential that Christmas parcels must bo specially packed to ensure their successful transport to the other side of the world, the board has asked the Provincial Patriotic Councils to arrange for the making and packing of puddings from firms who cater for such goods. Many women no doubt will regret that this, is so, but they will have the opportunity of baking Christmas cakes and providing the other contents of the Christmas parcel.
