RURAL RAKIXGS. CONDITIONS IN WAIKATO. A good supply of early spring feed in the Waikato is assured as the result of a heavy downpour of warm rain at the end of last week. Te Aroha Dairy Output. The To Aroha Coop. Dairy Company, for the season ended June 30, manufactured 2396 tons of butter, an increase of 336 tons over the previous year. The pay-out for the season was 16.385 d per pound of butterfat. totalling £407,813. Ravages by Dogs. Serious loss through the ravages of stray dogs has been suffered by Matamata sheep owners during the past week. Mr G. Mason, of Taihoa, lost seven ewes and three lambs, while a large number of his flock were injured. Mr G." Mockeridgo lost five ewes and six others were badly hurt,' while Mr S Huston, of the same district, lost two ewes. Lambing in Hawke’s Bay. Indications point to the lambing season, which is now well under way in most parts of Hawke’s Bay, being a successful one though it is too early yet even to guess at the percentages. There have been a few cases of ante partum paralysis, but on the whole the operations so far have not been marked to any great extent by this or any other trouble. College Dairy Herd. Statistics of butterfat production and herd testing of t.ho Massey College dairy herd were presented to a meeting of the college board of managers as follow, the - figures for tho corresponding period of the previous year being given in parentheses:— Production: May, 75 cows, 19341 b butterfat (63 cows, 15541 b butterfat); dune, 45 cows, 16521 b butterfat (60 cows 14441 b butterfat). Herd testing: Juno, 46 cows, 30 day average 35.231 b butterfat (62 cows, 29.121 b butterfat) ; July, 42 cows, 40.661 b butterfat (53 cows, 29.831 b butterfat). >
