WOMEN’S WORLD
Miss M. Murray, of Chaytor Street, is visiting Christchurch for Grand National Week. Mrs H. H. Harris, of Argyle Avenue, returned home this morning from Auckland. Miss Lorna King, of Auckland, is spending a holiday with her parents, Air and Mrs H. J. King, or Albert Street. A dance was held., by the Scotch Thistle Society in the Cosmopolitan Hall on Saturday night, when novelties were an added attraction. A ladies’ lucky door ticket was won by Alios D. Sowerby; the Alonto Carlo waltz by Miss 0. ltickard and Air E. Brown; and the lucky Gay Gordons by Aliss B. Simpson. The Highland fling was danced by the younger members in national costume, and extras were played by Air J. Cooper at the piano and by Air G. Esau on the bagpipes. The president of the society (Mr L. AlcAlillan) took the opportunity of making a presentation of a gold pencil to Air Esau, a foundation member, who is with the Third Echelon.
