READY FOR FRAY.
VETERAN FRENCH PILOTS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Aug. 10. American-built fighters, battle-scarred and bullet-riddled, which were flown from France by French pilots after Marshal Petain capitulated, will soon ho in action again against Germany. This week, “somewhere in England,” General de Gaulle inspected the planes, which are now' repaired, rearmed and tuned up for immediate battle. They belong to the No. 1 fighter training squadron of General de Gaulle’s army; Lined up in front of their machines when General de Gaulle made his inspection were veteran crack French fighter pilots, many of them bearing the ribbons of the Coix de Guerre and other medals won in air battles against the Germans over the Western Front in recent months. One and all are determined to fight on under the inspiring leadership of General de Gaulle. As the general concluded a brief address to the men of his air arm, the aerodrome hangars echoed back the cries of “Vive la France.”
