ISOLATED RAIDS.
NAZIS OVER BRITAIN. Received August 10, 9.40 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 9. It is officially announced that enemy planes dropped isolated bmnj 3B near ' ,< r Straits of Dover, Bristol Channel and North-Western England, damaging several houses. , . , , Rive bombs are reported to have fallen in the residential quarters of a Midland town. One house was demolished. There were a few casua ties in these areas, including several killed and seriously injured. A Junkers attempted to bomb a warship off the South-East Coast, but fled when anti-aircraft guns put up a heav y jj ome g ecur ity communique states: “Shortly before midday a single enemy aircraft crossed the North-East Coast of England and dropped a number of high-explosive bombs. Damage was done to houses and industrial property in a coastal town. There were a number of casualties, only one of which was fata “Anti-aircratt guns and R.A.JI fighters engaged the and shot it down into the sea.” Two Gorman figlitors unsuccGSsrulJy attacked the South-East coast early this evening. They came in twice, peppering their objective with cannon shells. Anti-aircraft defences drove them off. „ ~ ~ The Ministry of Home Security reports that bombs fell last night m South-Western districts of England. There were casualties, one of which was fatal, and some damage.
Leaflets dropped by a German plane in South-East England were sold as souvenirs and -realised £2b, which has boon sent to the British Red Cross Society. Two which were auctioned at a local Rotary Club lunch realised 255.
