SCALE OF WAGES. Per Press As c ociation. WELLINGTON, Aug. 9. • A supplementary Gazelle issued to-day implements the decision of the Industrial Emergency Council as announced by Hon. P. C. Webb lo enable hours in cheese factories lo be extended to 52 weekly. The special wages to be paid for the 52-hour week arc: First assistant, £6 ss; second assistant, £5 17s 6d; third assistant, £5 10s; fourth assistant, £5 5s 6d; engine-driver (first-class certificate), £6 ss; engine-driver (second-class certificate), £5 18s 6d ; all other workers (including firemen and general hands), £5. The Cheese Factories Labour Legislation Suspension Order under which these special conditions are permitted will remain operative for twelve months.
