AOKAUTERE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) AOKAUTERE. Aug. 8. There was a good attendance of local residents and visitors from Palmerston North, Whakarongo, and Tiritea to celebrate tho tenth birthday of the Women’s Institute. An enjoyable concert took up the first part of the evening, the performers being Mrs Bigham and Mrs Riddle (pianoforte duet), Mr J. Brown (song), Miss Scott (elocution), Mrs Bigham (9ong), Mr L. AVood (song), Messrs Brown and Wood (stage patter), Mrs Oxenham and partner (duologue) and Miss Scott (song). A play was presentee! by the AA’hakarotigo Drama Club under Miss K. Vautier. The concluding item was an Irish jig by Miss Hazel Lankshear. Mrs Don Scott (president) thanked those who had given items, Mrs S. Lankshear for making the cake, and Mrs Rowjee who iced : it, also Messrs M. and J. Lankshear and R. Parkes for supplying the music. She also spoke of the work being done by tho institute for soldiers and said it required considerable financing; shp thanked those present for their aid. Mrs Oxenham extended birthday greetings from the Whakarongo Institute. Mrs J. Woodley carried out the duties of M.C.
